In these terms, “we”, “us” and “our” mean GotYou Telematics (Pty) Ltd. “You” means the person buying carGuardian for their vehicle.
2. The product
carGuardian is an immobiliser, fitted inside your vehicle by a trained installer. It stops the engine from being driven until your private code is entered. The price is R6,499, VAT included, once-off, fitment included. There is no monthly fee.
The price you pay is the price shown when you pay. If our price changes after you have paid, it does not affect you.
3. Booking
A booking request on this website is free and commits you to nothing. After you send it, we confirm whether your vehicle is compatible and arrange a fitment date and a trained installer near you.
The contract between you and us is formed when you pay, or, where we have agreed that you pay after fitment, when the fitment is signed off.
4. Payment
Online payments are processed by PayFast. You pay on PayFast’s secure payment page, using a payment method offered there. We do not see or store your full card details. Your tax invoice is emailed to you, so you keep a full record of the transaction.
- Standard: you pay the full amount once we have confirmed that your vehicle is compatible, before the fitment.
- By arrangement: we may agree in writing that you pay the full amount after the fitment has been signed off. If so, payment is due on the day of sign-off.
All prices are in South African Rand and include VAT. We issue a tax invoice for every payment.
5. Fitment
Fitment is how carGuardian is delivered to you. A trained installer fits it on the agreed date. You need to:
- bring the vehicle and all its keys at the agreed time, or make them available;
- tell us about any existing alarm, immobiliser, tracker or electrical fault in the vehicle;
- be present, or send someone on your behalf, when the installer tests the system and signs it off with you.
Fitment is non-destructive. No factory wiring is cut. If the installer finds on the day that the vehicle cannot be fitted safely, the fitment does not go ahead and you get a full refund (see our Refund and Cancellation Policy).
6. Your code
Your code is private. Keep it private, and do not give it to anyone you would not trust with the vehicle. If you forget it, call our support line. Before we help you set a new one, you must prove your identity and that you own the vehicle.
7. Warranty
carGuardian carries a 2-year warranty from the date of fitment. It covers the unit and the fitting work. If the unit or the fitting is faulty, we repair or replace it free of charge, parts and labour included. The work is done by a trained installer.
The warranty is for the original buyer only and does not pass to a new owner if the vehicle is sold.
The warranty does not cover damage or faults caused by:
- anyone other than our trained installers opening, altering, removing or refitting the unit;
- an accident, fire, flood or other damage to the vehicle;
- misuse, or use not in line with our instructions;
- electrical faults in the vehicle itself, or work done on the vehicle by others.
This warranty adds to your rights under the Consumer Protection Act, 68 of 2008, and does not replace them. That includes your right to return defective goods within six months (see our Refund and Cancellation Policy).
8. What carGuardian is and is not
carGuardian is designed to make your vehicle much harder to drive away without your code. No security product can guarantee that a vehicle will never be stolen, broken into or damaged. carGuardian is not insurance, and it is not a tracking or recovery service.
As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from the use of carGuardian. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under the Consumer Protection Act, or our liability for gross negligence.
9. Cancellations and refunds
See our Refund and Cancellation Policy. It forms part of these terms.
10. Your personal information
We handle your personal information as set out in our Privacy Policy.
11. Complaints
If something is wrong, contact us first at [email protected] or 012 004 8546 and we will try to put it right. If we cannot resolve your complaint, you may refer it to the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud or the National Consumer Commission.
12. General
These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of South Africa. We may update these terms from time to time. The version on this page when you pay is the version that applies to your purchase.
