Theft prevention · Nissan Navara

How to stop your Nissan Navara being stolen

A working double-cab that moves easily across borders and parts out quickly. Both generations on our list carry the full protection set, including the one that matters in a hijacking.

The short answer. Both common methods end with a key the factory immobiliser accepts. carGuardian requires a PIN, an encrypted fob or your phone as well — and on the Navara our data also records engine shut-off over CAN, so a forced handover does not end with the vehicle gone.

Which Nissan Navara models does this cover?

Our fitment list covers Navara III facelift [D40] (2010–2015) and Navara IV [D23] (2014–2026) — the generation sold here as the NP300 Navara. Both are recorded with the full protection set: engine start inhibit and engine shut-off over the CAN bus.

GenerationYearsStarts withProtection available
Navara III (Rest. 1) [D40]2010–2015Engine shut-off via CAN bus; Engine start inhibit via CAN bus
Navara IV [D23]2014–2026Engine shut-off via CAN bus; Engine start inhibit via CAN bus

Read straight from our fitment database. “Protection available” is what the unit can do on that generation. It is not identical across every variant, so we confirm your exact Nissan Navara before fitting.

How a Nissan Navara actually gets taken — and what stops each method

Not every method applies to every model, which is why generic advice is close to useless. Find yours in the middle column.

Theft methodWhich models are exposedWhat carGuardian does
OBD key programmingEvery Navara, both generations. A tool in the diagnostic port writes a key the factory accepts. The new key is genuine to Nissan and worthless against carGuardian — the engine will not start without your PIN, fob or phone.
Relay attackVariants fitted with keyless entry and push-button start.A relayed signal unlocks and satisfies the factory system, and produces nothing carGuardian will accept.
Drive-away hijackAll models.Available on both Navara generations: the engine cuts between roughly 300 m and 1 km from the scene, at low speed — the distance is set at fitment.
Flatbed or towAll models.carGuardian does not prevent a vehicle being removed on a flatbed truck or towed away. A tracker inside will notify you and help find the vehicle.

Can a Nissan Navara be stolen without the key?

Yes. Key programming through the diagnostic port works on every Navara and produces a key the factory immobiliser accepts as genuine. Variants with keyless entry are also exposed to relay attack.

Does carGuardian protect a Navara during a hijacking?

Yes. Our fitment data records engine shut-off over the CAN bus for both Navara generations, so the engine cuts a short distance from the scene at low speed. That protection is not available on every vehicle we fit, but it is on this one.

Is the NP300 Navara covered?

Yes — that is the D23 generation, on our list from 2014 through 2026.

What you get on every vehicle on this page

The engine will not start. Every Nissan Navara generation listed above supports it, and it is the protection that matters most. Both common theft methods end with a working key — and on this vehicle a working key is not enough. Some generations support more; the table says which.

Where your tracker takes over

Towing and recovery belong to your tracker. Run both layers and each covers what the other cannot.
